Since 2017, Eugene Hynes has been cleaning up ponds across Newfoundland, mostly on the Avalon Peninsula: paddling out by kayak, snorkelling and free-diving to the bottom, and hauling up whatever has been dumped or lost there. That means tires, bottles, cans, fishing gear, and now and then something old and remarkable.
He photographs every haul and posts it to the Avalon Pond Cleanups Facebook page. This site gathers those posts onto one map, so you can find any pond he has done and see every cleanup there.
